Sing these verses!!!

I just recently found 3 more verses to the well-known song "Jesus Loves Me".  So, even though it's much easier to sing the first verse and chorus since I've known only that for my entire life, I'm going to try to commit the next verses to memory.

In these other verses we are told more of the fullness of God's love toward us in Jesus for those who have accepted Jesus by faith.  Jesus freed us from sin, He died upon the tree in our place, heaven will be our home because of Jesus' death, He will one day wipe away all sin, He promises to be with us all of our days.

These gospel truths indeed cause me to agree with the very last line: "I will henceforth live for Thee."  So God, by Your spirit help me to live for You and You alone.

HISTORY BEHIND THE SONG: It was originally written in 1860 as a poem by Anna B. Warner and included as part of a story meant to comfort the heart of a dying child.  In 1861 it was put to music by William Bradbury, who added the chorus and published it as a part of his hymnal collection, The Golden Sower. (information found here)

Jesus Loves Me

Jesus loves me!
This I know,
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong;
They are weak but He is strong.

Jesus loves me!
Loves me still,
Tho' I'm very weak and ill,
That I might from sin be free,
Bled and died upon the tree.

Jesus loves me!
He who died
Heaven's gate to open wide;
He will wash away my sin,
Let His little child come in.

Jesus loves me!
He will stay
Close beside me all the way.
Thou hast bled and died for me;
I will henceforth live for Thee.

Chorus:
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.

You haven't heard of Laurie Berkner?????

If you haven't heard of Laurie Berkner, then you need to familiarize yourself with her RIGHT NOW!!!!!  Especially if you are a parent that has young children.  She is definitely the leading lady in children's music!  When I was working at a daycare of few years ago, Matthew's (one of boys I taught) mom brought in a copy of some Laurie Berkner songs and told me that if Matthew started getting a little crazy, to just play this CD!  It was his favorite CD and after playing it through once I was hooked as well!  The songs are catchy, educational and really, really fun!  And I have got to say that they are not your typical cheesy kids songs (I hope I didn't offend anyone)!  So, please take a moment to introduce your children to our household favorite children's musician by previewing some of her songs on YouTube or by visiting her website.  We hope you enjoy! Nathan has the DVD and we just ordered him the newest CD called "Rocketship Run".

Yes...He understands!

"I don't think he understands".  I have personally said that phrase and heard it said by many parents referring to their young child.   So, you asked the child not to touch the bookshelf, not to put their fingers in the outlet, not to open Mommy's purse...and you think they don't understand you.  UNTIL....

Julie: "Nathan, please put this in the trash can."

Nathan: (walks to me to take the napkin out of my hand, walks to the trash can, opens the lid, puts the napkin inside the trash can, closes the lid, walks back to us and looks at us with a smile on his face)

Brian (to Julie): "Did you point to the trash can?"

Julie: "No."

Brian: "Wow, he understands much more than we think."

Julie: "Yes.  He does."

So, if he is able to put an article in the trash can and you didn't even know that he knew that bin by the back door is called the trash can, do you think he understands not to touch the bookshelf, the outlets and Mommy's purse?!
